Skindulgence 20th Anniversary Open House |

Label Detecting: Understanding Organics |
 Organic Skincare Products have been around for a number of years and have really gained wide consumer momentum in the past. GM Collin is focused on what their client base is looking for and responding to their needs.
There has been a great deal of "greenwashing" recently that is distorting information about the purity levels and the certification for many product lines. Don't be swayed by these marketing gimmicks. Instead, be a label detective.
There are many things to look for and the word "natural" does not always mean it's ideal for your skin (poisin ivy is "natural" too!). The quickest method of discovering the purity of your products is using the Third's Rule:
- The top third of the ingredients comprise over 90% of the product combined
- The middle third represents approximately 5-8% of the product
- The bottom third represents 1-3% of the ingredients
If the proposed "natural" ingredient isn't in the top third, it's time to put the product back.
Certified organic products must contain a minimum 95% of organic ingredients excluding water and salt/minerals with a minute allowance for natural, non-organic ingredients that must comply with stringent criteria.*
When a product is made with ingredients in their whole unaltered state they will be exponentially more beneficial to your skin than their meddled with counterparts. (Think: raw veggies versus deep fried and smothered in sauce.)
